Electric vehicles
EV range and efficiency, compared
EPA lists 171 electric versions for the 2027 model year. The longest EPA-rated range is 512 miles (Lucid Air G Touring XR AWD with19 inch wheels), and the most efficient is Lucid Air Pure RWD with 19 inch wheels at 146 MPGe combined. 5 plug-in hybrid versions are also listed.
2027 electric vehicles by range
Range is EPA's combined estimate on a full charge. MPGe is miles per gallon equivalent (33.7 kWh = 1 gallon of gasoline). Yearly cost is EPA's estimate for 15,000 miles at its electricity-price assumption.

Real-world range drops in cold weather, at highway speeds and with heavy loads; EPA figures are for comparing models.

Federal EV tax credit
The federal new clean vehicle credit is not available for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025, according to the IRS. See the IRS clean vehicle credit page for the exact rules. State and utility incentives vary; check your state energy office or utility.
2027 plug-in hybrids by electric range
Plug-in hybrids drive a limited distance on electricity, then run as gas hybrids. Electric range and MPGe are EPA figures for the battery-powered portion; mpg is for gasoline-only driving.
| Vehicle | Drive | Electric range | MPGe on electricity | Gas-only mpg |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BMW 550e xDrive Sedan | All-Wheel Drive | 34 mi | 68 | 25 |
| Kia Sportage Plug-in Hybrid | All-Wheel Drive | 33 mi | 83 | 36 |
| BMW M5 Sedan | All-Wheel Drive | 29 mi | 47 | 14 |
| BMW M5 Touring | All-Wheel Drive | 25 mi | 54 | 13 |
| Bentley Bentayga Hybrid | All-Wheel Drive | 20 mi | 42 | 21 |
